Resilience
During a prolonged recession, I wanted to write a piece about resilience for those who want to learn from or resonate with during these tough financial times. In an era of greed and predatory tactics mixed with careers attempting to be built, but constantly destroyed, I want to provide some clarity and psychological assurances. I view the past 4 years as “the perfect storm” of variables that created mass chaos. Hysteria, confusion, and brainwashing due to vulnerability, fear, and anxiety. Targeted at my generation and younger, just entering the prime years of career-building, but also wanting to create positive impact. A few whom were able to see past, were cornered like dogs until they reacted out of pure survival instinct and melancholy. Not being seen or heard takes a toll, pushing us towards a yearning for finality. I get it, they don’t and that’s okay. It’s not their job to understand, it’s yours to find those who do and just make it through.
You might have gone through cycles of this, the past decade. But, I finally feel the cycles are ending and starting a new. There’s a point in which these tolls reach our politicians or corporate leaders, not via letters, cries, or tweets, but via a deep soft sigh. A powerful expression that signals this sense of distrust mixed with a goodbye. A signal that activates others to see the gaps, issues, and begin building the solutions moving forward. It is sad that it takes this long in America, always at a cost that we wish could be proactively assessed rather than reactively. But, that is our country’s story and only consistent trait, so one must adapt to see the patterns and protect the self.
Their time frames are wrong, when your lives are on the line. Mental health is important to me and I know how to read your timelines. At 21, 24, 26 I had 3 bursts of projects I had started, guerrilla marketing, researching users online. I never had the confidence in knowing if I was ready to lead something officially, a start-up that pays the bills for others while trusting every decision I will make will benefit their futures. That was partially why I loved open-source, I could build what I wanted and people could use it if they liked, the only cost and risk was my time. But, true impact is taking that risk of leadership, swallowing up fear, and truly pushing a financial front along with the mission. I have never faltered, but I have failed every time. The reason I keep trying is because every year is a new gift of clarity and every year gives me another reason to help someone who has lived through what I have, to just make it through.
To show the Silicon Valley that true change starts at the grass roots, what redistribution of wealth looks like, and what it means to listen. While exposing all of the psychological tactics that may be impacting your mental well-being at home, online, or at work. For some it could be the product of the culture, for others it could be their innate personalities that need to be re-trained. But, once we reach the point of reading your timelines, there’s no room left when waiting for change. New entities need to rise to provide the safety you need.
These entities aren’t superheroes, they are leaders who saw too much and truly don’t want to see mistakes repeated. They know how lives can be ruined, futures, mental health, stress inflicted, and the painful days, nights, sleep routines that result from these situations. They are here to be the mainstream successful few that will shed some light. Just the tiny non-existent bit you were searching for. From my years of user-studies, I know you are still searching for this, so they and myself will finally build it. And we will be the wall against the noise that hurt you in the first place.
There’s a lot of observers out there, waiting for their own ship to sail before coming in to fix your boats. You just have to be patient as the rising tides will lift all whom ask for aid.
In the future 1A will be released at https://1a.rao.nyc if you would like guidance.
You’re important and I want to make sure you make it through these next 3-6 months. Where the final shifts will occur and you will be able to breathe again. Maybe, even lead something yourself.
